Hybrid Event Live Streaming for Creative Informatics

We partnered with the University of Edinburgh to deliver a seamless hybrid live stream that connected both in-person and remote audiences during the pandemic. Our team managed everything from pre-production to the live multi-camera broadcast, helping the client expand their reach and grow attendance across a series of events.

// Overview

The Brief

Video Production Edinburgh produced a number of live streams for Design Informatics – University of Edinburgh, helping them distribute and deliver digital content during Covid.

  • Objectives: Live stream the event to a remote audience, as well as to an attending one.
  • Audience: Prospect creatives interested in the client’s programme, Academics
  • Challenge: Seamlessly live stream high-quality video, sound and visual being consistent with branding and style across several events

The Approach

Our dedicated live stream team spent significant time leasing with the client to make sure everything got pre-produced solidly before the event. We had live stream engineers, assistants, sound engineers and camera operators. The production included:

  • Pre-production: Working around the event schedule, we worked closely with the client to make sure every aspect of the event was properly covered, and recommended the most cost-effective solutions to obtain the best results
  • Live stream: Four cameras of which two manned, two sounds engineers, two live stream engineers, two assistant producers to deliver a high-value live stream
  • Post-Production: We edited and delivered the recording of the event within 48 hours.

The Outcome

Approximately 300 remote attendees and 300 local ones. Remote attendance grew significantly as several similar events have been delivered.
